FAQ's

IS THERE A SERVICE CONTRACT REQUIRED?
No. By making a phone call to Sgt. Pile, you can start or stop service any time you like. If you are
feeling a little uneasy about telling us why you would like to cease our pet service, you may also email
me. While I would like to know why we are losing your dogs business, you will get a lot more “thank
you for your ongoing patronage” and We will miss your silly pups” than “why are you leaving us”. We
feel our service speaks for itself and know that you will continue recommending us to your friends
and neighbors. If you decide to cancel your weekly service, any unused prepayment will be promptly
refunded to you.
HOW OFTEN DOES Sgt Pile SERVICE MY LAWN?
As often as you like. Most of our routes are filled with residential customers who request once a week
service. However, if you have more than 2-3 dogs, you may want to consider 2 times per week or
more. Likewise, if you just have 1 small dog, you may want to consider twice a month service.
Together, we can help you figure out which type of service best suits your dogs’ needs. We currently
service our customer’s yards during daylight hours Monday through Friday and are occasionally
available for one time cleanings and initial consultations on the weekends.
WHAT DAYS OF THE WEEK DO YOU OFFER SERVICE?
Sgt. Pile offers service Monday through Friday. We are available to meet new clients during various
times in the evening after you come home. We also do initial consultations and one time cleanings
on some weekends when the client is available. We work very hard during the week to keep our
clients lawns clean and try to keep our weekends available for our pooper-scoopers to spend with
their families.
IS IT REQUIRED FOR ME TO BE AT MY PROPERTY WHEN YOU COME TO CLEAN?
No. If you choose to leave your dogs in your yard when we come to clean, we of course will schedule
an initial appointment with you and your pups to let them get to know us first. If they enjoy our
presence then there is no need for you to continue to be there on cleaning days. If your pups are
overly protective of your property, then we will simply request that they are kept inside while we
scoop. This is not normally a problem. Most of our fury friends actually look forward to us coming
and know that they will receive a few moments of playtime or a treat.
CAN MY DOGS BE LEFT IN THE YARD WHILE YOU SERVICE MY PROPERTY?
Depends. We love getting a chance to spend time with our four legged friends. They are our clients
too. However, if you know that your pets have been aggressive in the past, with anyone for that
matter, then it is better if they are restrained or confined while we scoop. We are always concerned
for the safety of our scoopers as well as your dogs. Keep in mind that your dogs may be on their best
behavior when you’re around, but when our scoopers walk into their territory, they may no longer see
us as their friends that they get to play with. You know your dogs better than anyone. If there are any
doubts about your dogs behavior, you can watch from the house on our first scheduled day or we can
knock on the door so that a family member can escort Fido into the house while we scoop. We are
very friendly and most dogs look forward to our scoopers coming. If we have any problems though,
we will let you know.
CAN I CHOOSE MY SERVICE DAY?
It depends. We work 5-6 days a week and every day is allocated to a certain area or city. Take for
example that on Mondays our routes are set up to service Temecula and you live in Hemet, if we are
able to do that then we will. We take customer service very seriously, however, we hope that if we are
unable to provide the day you wish that you understand. We set up specific routes so that we may
service many customers while keeping our drive time to a minimum. With the current price of fuel,
doing this helps keep the cost of service low and competitive.
WILL MY SERVICE DAY EVER CHANGE?
We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our clients will be serviced on the day or days that we
set up with them. You know how massive our area is with a lot of open spaces. Business continues
to “pick up” and we are constantly servicing more clients. We try very hard to ensure our clients
specified scooping days and that the same scoopers service them. This helps cause a pattern with
the dogs we service and gains trust with our clients. If for some reason your service day must
change, we will notify you in advance to make you aware.
SHOULD I HAVE MY GATE UNLOCKED ON MY SCHEDULED SERVICE DAY?
YES. We have learned that if our scoopers climb or jump over fences, the local authorities always
seem to show up. We require that you make arrangements with us so that we may service your
property on scheduled service days. You may also tell us where you have hidden a key or tell us the
combination to the gate lock or some other solution. We will always lock the gate behind us and
leave it zipped tied to ensure your dogs safety and to let you know you have been scooped. If you live
in a gated community, access to your community must be pre-arranged.
WHAT IF MY DOG WON’T LET YOU IN OR I FORGET TO UNLOCK MY GATE?
We allow this to happen two times without a service charge. In other words, its free the first two times
we are unable to access your yard due to your dog being disagreeing with our presence or you forget
to allow us access to the yard. We will always attempt to see if your home to allow us access. The
third time this happens, we will charge you 100% of the service charge for that day. There are 3
reasons why this is fair: 1. We have previously had two free trips to your house. 2. We have spent
time and gas to get to your property. 3. There will be twice as much poop to pick up. We will make
every effort to contact you via the phone or by knocking on your door to see if you’re home to help us
out. If your dogs are frightened by us while we attempt to scoop, we will need to make arrangements
for your dogs to be removed from the yard while we “steal their stuff”.
HOW WILL I KNOW IT IS Sgt. Pile ENTERING MY PROPERTY?
Our scoopers will always be wearing an Sgt Pile uniform. They will also be carrying big red dustpans
and rakes too. If for some reason your neighbors are concerned about our presence, we encourage
them to just ask who we are and why we are there.
CAN I SKIP A SERVICE DAY?
Yes. Just call us and let us know which service day you would like to skip in advance so that we can
temporarily remove it from the route. We will prorate your next month’s bill to reflect the missed
service day. If you skip more than 2 weeks in a row, we may have to charge more for the first week
you reinstate.
WHAT ABOUT HEAVY RAIN DAYS?
This is not normally an issue. We have such a large client base; we simply cannot fall behind. Our
troops will scoop rain or shine, however, if for some reason the typical California rain turns into heavy
lightening showers, we will have to reschedule your time to the first available time slot. Our tools are
made of metal and we don’t want any lightening strikes happening in your backyard. It is near
impossible to guarantee any degree of quality poop removal when the downpour turns a canine land-
mine into a soggy mess.
DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICE ON HOLIDAYS?
Currently, we work on all holidays except for Labor day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas
Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. We reserve the right to alter this schedule at any time. We
will always post upcoming holiday schedules on your next months invoice letting you know in
advance when we will make-up the missed scoop day.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE POOP YOU SCOOP?
Waste is disposed of in accordance with the Riverside County Health and Safety Code. We will
double bag your dog’s waste so that it does not smell and discreetly place it in your non-recyclable
trashcan or other approved trash bin/dumpster.
DOES ‘NT MY DOGS WASTE MAKE A GOOD FERTILIZER?
Absolutely not! Please do some research here. Don’t just take my word for it. Dog and cat waste is
incredibly hazardous. As a matter of fact, it is by definition labeled as “hazardous waste” by our most
important environmental agencies. Take the extra careful measures to keep it from coming in contact
with your children.
HOW AM I BILLED AND WHERE DO I SEND MY PAYMENT?
You prepay for your pets services with SGT. PILE. We typically send out a statement around the
middle of the month for dog and cat cleaning services. It represents the fees required to be paid for
the following months service. This will be sent via the mail or you may chose to have us leave it on
your doorstep. Our fee’s are always due on the 27th of each month and will be applied towards the
service visits the following month. You will be prepaying for your service.
You may send check or money order to:
SGT PILE
34444 Waltham Place
Winchester, CA 92596
We have made secured credit card payments available originating on our website www.sgtpile.com
through the use of PayPal. They are an extremely secure, well-known company currently handling
millions of transactions online. Although your payment will originate from our website, we in no way
will ever have access to your credit card details. The first time we clean your yard, we will ask you to
leave us that month’s prepayment as well as any initial cleaning charge that was agreed upon. For
checks that are returned from the bank, a $20 fee will be charged on top of the original amount of the
check. All services will be discontinued until that amount is remitted to us in the form of a money
order.
DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?
Yes. We currently offer a 10% discount for 6 months prepay and 15% discount for 1 year prepay.
We also offer a 10% discount to Seniors Citizens, Service Dogs, Pregnant Women, Police and Fire.
We offer 15% discount to all active or retired Military. And if that is not enough, we offer a referral
compensation program that is far superior to any discounts we offer.
HOW DOES YOUR REFERRAL PROGRAM WORK?
This program is mutually beneficial to our company and to you. I you are not currently a customer of
ours, we will offer you a $20 check for every client that you refer to us that signs up for weekly service.
If you are a current customer, we offer a whopping $40 check for every customer that signs up for
weekly service for three months or more. We have been known to also pay higher compensations for
commercial account referrals. Call us, let’s talk. Since we receive all monthly fees in advance, we
are able to cut checks for referrals very quickly. All referrals must live in a different address than your
own.
IS THERE AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR THE FIRST VISIT?
Yes, there may be an extra charge. It is really contingent on how much poop the property has. If you
have four dogs and wall-to-wall poop that has accumulated for several weeks, then it is a definite
yes. We typically charge $25 + $1 for every minute of actual scooping time. If your property is
relatively clean, then we can just start with the monthly service fee. It is best to check with us before
hand.
WHAT IF I AM LATE ON MY MONTHLY PAYMENT?
We take this very serious. Payment is ALWAYS due on the 27th of the month. Our monthly service
fees are always paid in advance of the month we will be servicing your property. To receive a full
months of service, all clients are required to mail their service fee as agreed upon to our billing
address by the 27th of the month. If today is October 27th, we should have already received your
payment for the month of November. If we do not receive your prepayment by the 27th of the month,
then we may need to remove our address from our route service sheet. The best way to handle it is
to make arrangements in advance to have your payment ready for pick-up on the day of service. If you
want to start your service back up after a few weeks of no service, we may need to charge a little more
for the time the poop has not been picked up. If for some reason you want to cancel your service
during the month, you will be prorated for the time you did not use the service. You will not lose a
dime. All you have to do is call us to let us know what is going on.
DO YOU OFFER DOG WALKING OR PLAY TIME FOR MY DOGS?
Yes we do and the dogs love it! For more information, please click on the 'Dog Walking Dog Tags' on
our website. As far as playtime with your dogs, we would love to do this free of charge. All of our
troops love to spend time with the dogs. That’s the perk of the job.
DO YOU OFFER CAT LITTER BOX EXCHANGE?
Yes we do. We are able to service your cats litter box even if you are not a current dog customer. We
come out to your house, clean and service the litter box, and we even replace the litter as needed.
Once a month the litter is completely replaced. We use a fully biodegradable litter that is all natural
with no chemicals or clays. You just need to provide the litter box. We do all the rest.
HOW DO YOU PREVENT THE SPREAD OF MICROBE BETWEEN YARDS?
We take this as serious as you do. The shovels, rakes, and dust pans that we use as the tools of our
trade are consistently cleaned off after each property we service. We use various disinfectants for
this purpose including Parvo killing agents as well as bleach solution. The bags containing the poop
we collect are sprayed as well as our own shoes before we enter our vehicles. All this is done to
combat any chance of transferring any chemicals, toxins, or microbes between customers.
AS A CUSTOMER OF SGT. PILE IS MY SATISFACTION GUARANTEED?
Absolutely. We promise to make every effort to leave your home free of dog poop by the time we exit
your property. That is how we make our money and you as the client deserve nothing less. Since our
companies good name & reputation is contingent upon the service we render, it is our sincere desire
that you phone us at 951-240-1772 if you feel that you received a level of service substandard to what
we discussed. Forget our reputation. You and your pet’s satisfaction is all that’s important to us. We’
ll “high tail” it back out to your property within 48 hours. If we simply can not do that, then you may
have that weeks of service free of charge.
I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS THAT ARE NOT
DISCUSSED HERE.

best to answer the phone as often as we
